Often times, when people say that “all food is made clean now,” the first issue in this line of thinking is not understanding the biblical definition of what “food” is.
Rather than going through all of the verses that are widely taken out of context and interpreted to mean that “Believers are free to eat whatever they want now,” let’s take a step back and look at how our Father defines what food is. This will clear up so much confusion if we lean on Scripture to objectively define truth.
In order to understand what food is, we can look to Leviticus 11, which beautifully lays out what our Father deems as “clean” (you shall eat) and “unclean” (you shall not eat).
Here are just a few examples of clean vs. unclean animals:
CLEAN: Chicken, turkey, cow, sheep, tuna, salmon, deer
UNCLEAN: Pig, dog, horse, shrimp, lobster, crab, catfish
Here’s my point:
Unclean animals are never defined as “food” in Scripture—they were never created or intended to be food. Therefore, we can’t call “food” “clean” when unclean animals are never defined as “food” to begin with.
Saying that “all food is clean now” is applying interpretation to a definition that simply does not exist.
So, whenever food or meat is talked about in the New Testament, no matter what the context is, it is ONLY referring to CLEAN animals, as the Israelites never viewed unclean animals as food.
Additionally, it should also be noted that nowhere in Scripture does it say that Yahuah made “all animals clean” either, as this is something that is also commonly misunderstood.
He didn’t change His mind.
He does not change His definition of sin, ever.
“I am Yahuah; I do not change.”
Malachi 3:6
The problem within the body today is that the majority of Believers don’t allow Scripture to be our standard in defining what truth is.
And the reason this is important is because when you misunderstand Scripture without a willingness to humble yourself to truly examine what the Word says, you risk falling into the error of practicing lawlessness and enabling sin.
At the end of the day, it’s about having a childlike faith and listening to what our Father wants/doesn’t want in our bodies.
The One who created you and me also created the animals—both clean and unclean. He gave us explicit instructions to teach us how to take care of our bodies.
It takes childlike faith to believe Him & it takes love to obey Him.
He knows what’s best for us.
Why can’t we take His Word for it?
With Love,
